Our History Class...In our history class, we will be studying religions, cultures, and heritage of other countries, such as Islam. We also will get to study the rises and falls of some civilizations, such as Rome. We will also get to act out the history that we learn with simulations. Our class is going to go back in time, and see what other cultures, laws, ways, heritage, and religions of other places in the world, and fill our brains with excellent knowledge!

Africa Silent Barter

For our history class, we did another simulation, where we were in Africa, and we had to silent barter with other people. There were two different tribes, A and B. We were in tribe A, and we had to cross the deserts, and put down our salt for the others' gold. We needed the money, and they needed the salt. From there, we did not dare look at our master, and we placed down what we wanted to trade. Then, we went back, and drums started to beat. The other tribe came down, and put down what they'd give in trade for that. We could agree or disagree, and it would go from there.
Doing that simulation was not only fun, but it helped us learn a lot about what went on in ancient Africa. We also learned how to silent barter, and we found out about whatever the Africans needed during times, and how they would get things to each other.
This reminds me of the other simulation that we did, because we all had a character role play card. We also learned a lot about the difference in the people as well. I feel for me, simulations are really good, and they help me learn a lot, instead of taking Cornell Notes. This is a really good idea, and I hope we continue doing different activities like this throughout the year.

Barbarians VS Romans

In our history class, we did a simulation which taught us how the fall of Rome occurred in the historical times. We reenacted it through teams of two, four, and eight. The barbarians were the team of eight, them Romans were the teams of four, and the regular citizens of Rome were the teams of two. I was on the Barbarians side, as the Franks. When the Romans were off buying things from the citizens, we planned to steal everything from the shops, and defeat the Romans. I had to conquer Gaul, and I had, then went to go help my other fellow Barbarian team members conquer other places. The Roman teams were in shock, and didn't do anything. Then, the split of East and Western Rome happened, and two members were in the east, and they were safe. The two members who were in the west however, weren't so lucky. After we conquered all the countries, we finally conquered the almighty Rome.
What this simulation taught us, was how it felt to be in the people of back then's shoes. As a Barbarian, I felt powerful defeating Rome, and also felt very bad because we were left out of Rome's territories. Some of my friends were Romans, and they said it felt powerful to be going around everywhere and buying every single piece of gold and silk from every merchant. The merchants felt happy the Romans bought their items, but were sad when they were conquered by the Barbarians. All of these feelings were true. They happened to real people. I think that this simulation was a really fun, and great idea to help us learn world history.
